The Danube waterway, along with rail, is becoming steadily more important to the container sector. Continuous improvement and expansion of the existing infrastructure creates new possibilities for the regional economy. Integrating the Danube waterway into the logistics chain is being made yet more attractive by the introduction of scheduled services. This allows for the better utilisation of capacities, as well as for the provision of an environment-friendly shift of traffic away from the road and to the waterways and rail.
